Dr. Sami Rtimi
Director of Innovation & Technology
Dr Sami Rtimi is GIWEH's Director of Innovation and Technology, based in Barcelona, Spain, and a member of the Advisory Board. A photo-chemist with a strong background in surface engineering and microbiology, he holds a PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from EPFL and a doctorate in Biological Sciences from the University of Carthage in Tunisia.
His work covers the design, synthesis and characterisation of antibacterial films for environmental and medical applications. He has published widely in high-impact journals, holds patents, edits several journals and special issues, is a member of national and international scientific societies, and has received awards for translating science into applications, including PERL, Venture Kick and MassChallenge.
