GIWEH at the first General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform in Baku

GIWEH Director-General Dr Nidal Salim addressed the first General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform in Baku, speaking on inclusive urbanisation and the role of civil society in delivering services to fast-growing cities across the Global South.

In his address, Dr Salim set out how water, sanitation and environmental health must be planned into urban growth from the start, and how civil-society organisations can hold that agenda together by linking communities, municipalities and the multilateral system. He underlined South–South cooperation as the most direct route to sharing affordable, locally adapted solutions.

GIWEH's participation in the founding assembly reflects its long-standing commitment to giving Global South institutions a stronger voice in international water and environment policy.
